The portals of Badrinath shrine in Uttarakhand will be reopened on May 12 at 6 AM, it was announced on the occasion of Basant Panchami on Wednesday.

The muharat for the reopening of the Badrinath shrine, one of the four Chardhams, was taken at the Raj Mahal in Narendra Nagar in Tehri district where Maharaja Manujendra Shah performed the ceremony with priests reciting vedic mantra and performing other Hindu rituals.

Badrinath shrine is situated in the hill district of Chamoli at a height of 3133 meter. The doors of Badrinath shrine were closed on Nov 18 last. The shrine remains closed during the winter season every year.
