Amid heatwave, rains may bring some respite

Amid the rising temperature in the plains, hills of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are likely to experience rains from April 9 to April 10, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.

A fresh western disturbance (WD) is likely to affect western Himalayan region in the next few days, it said. Due to the presence of WD, scattered to fairly widespread rains are likely to occur in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand.

A fresh spell of rainfall is also likely to occur in the eastern Indian region for the next four days.

Meanwhile, heatwave conditions are likely to intensify in Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Western Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat in the next few days with the rise of temperature.

The mercury in Deradun continued to rise as the capital city on Sunday recorded 36 degree C which was season’s highest temperature and 4.7 notches more than the normal. The minimum temperature in Dehradun also rose to 17.1 degree C.

In Delhi, the maximum temperature shot up to 38.2 degree. In the next few days, the temperature is likely to cross 42 degree C in Delhi further intensifying the heatwave conditions in Delhi.
