Telugu mega star Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday in the Sandhya Theater stampede case in Hyderabad, police said.

Police has filed a case against Arjun in connection with the Dec 4 stampede in which one woman had died and her son hospitalized. Arjun had appeared in the theater during the premier of his movie Pushpa 2: The Rule causing stampede. The movie has become the fastest film to enter the Rs 1000 crore club worldwide.

The film which is a sequel to the 2021 Pushpa movie with same star-cast has broken the multiple box office records since its release. It has earned Rs 1062 crore in just one week, trade sources said.
Directed by Sukumar, the film which was released in multiple languages is giving dazzling performance in the first week after the release.

Significantly, the Hindi version of the movie has earned more than other languages including Telugu. The movie amassed a whopping Rs 141.05 crore on its first Sunday.

The movie which has now become the highest grossing film of 2024 has broken the record of Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD which stood at Rs 1042 crore.

After watching the movie, ace director Madhur Bhandrkar said the movie totally blew him away. “This movie is a totally game-changer for the Indian film industry,” he wrote on X. Aaj Tak, a leading news channel, said the movie is ruling everywhere.
