As the election temperature rose in Dehradun and other parts of Uttarakhand on Friday, the real time temperature jumped to 37.8 degree C in the capital which was the highest this summer.
But in the evening, rains brought down the temperature considerably bringing much needed relief in Dehradun. Cool winds blew in the evening. The hill resort of Mussoorie also witnessed similar weather which became pleasant in the evening after rains.
The met office said the maximum temperature of 37.8 degrees is 4.9 notches more than normal. The minimum temperature in Dehradun was 22.4 degree C which was 4.5 more than the normal.
The Met office said in the next two days, the sky will remain partly cloudy. There is a possibility of rain or thunderstorm or dust storm in Dehradun on April 22-23.
Interestingly, the polling took place in the blistering heat in Dehradun with people complaining that the day was very hot. “We went in the afternoon to cast our votes. It was very hot outside at that time,” said Surinder Rautela, an ex-serviceman.
The Met office said the temperature is likely to drop by two notches in the next 1-2 days. “There is going to be some further relief,” said Bikarm Singh, Director Met centre in Dehradun.
