Case registered against Champion in Dalanwala police station

The Uttarakhand police on Saturday registered a case against former BJP MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion for allegedly beating and abusing a policeman in his security.

A case under sections 323/332/353/504/506 has been registered in the Dalanwala police station against Champion, who was four time MLA. In 2016, Champion had quit Congress to Join BJP along with nine other MLAs under the leadership of Vijay Bahuguna.

In his complaint, Gokul Prasad Yadav alleged that he was beaten up by Champion on Feb 8 at his Mohini Road residence in Dehradun. Yadav also alleged that he was also abused by the former MLA. Champion also allegedly threatened to kill Yadav, the complaint said.

Prior to this case, Nand Kishore Bhatt the then SHO of Dalanwala police station had registered a case against Champion for putting obstructions in the official work in the police station. A case under sections 186/353/506 had already been registered against Champion on Dec 21, 2022.

Some media persons have also alleged that Champion is very abusive in nature and often becomes violent.

In his political tussle with BJP MLA Deshraj Karanwal, the BJP had suspended Champion from the party. Champion had challenged Deshraj for a wrestling bout also. The suspension was later revoked after Champion apologized.

After a video purportedly showing him dancing to a Bollywood number with guns in hand went viral, Champion had claimed that the clip was edited and termed it an intrusion into his privacy.
