In the biggest upset on Saturday, the world no 1 Iga Swiatek lost to Czech teenager Linda Noskova 6-3, 3-6, 4-6 in the third round of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park.

Noskova (19) who is world no 50 played some brilliant shots and got better of Swiatek in the decisive third set to shock the world no 1.

The 22 year old Swiatek, a four time grand slam champion, has never won the Australian Open though she had won French Open thrice and US Open once in the past.

After winning French Open in 2023, Swaitek could not show her brilliance as she crashed out of Wimbledon and US Open at the early stage last year. “I think it was an unbelievable match for me,” said the giant killer Noskova after the match.  On the other hand Swiatek said she wished she could have played better in the match.
