Prime Minister Naredra Modi has inaugurated the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu – a groundbreaking engineering marvel spanning 21.8 km, built with an investment of ₹17,840 crore.
It is India’s longest bridge, 12th in the world, promising seamless connectivity to Mumbai, Navi Mumbai airports, and a drastic reduction in travel time to Pune, Goa, and South India. These transformative announcements totalling ₹12,700 crore unfold, the Orange Gate to Marine Drive tunnel, the Surya water project benefiting Palghar and Thane. The bridge would provide enhanced railway facilities for daily commuters.
PM’s reax: A pioneering projecft that will transform infrastructure in Mumbai. “Happy to have inaugurated it yesterday,” said Modi in X (twitter). This bridge promises to reduce travel time and boost connectivity, making daily commutes smoother, he said.
For travelers , it will be India’s most expensive bridge with the monthly pass for bus and car will be around Rs 12,500 which means Rs 1.5 lakh per annum. For trucks, it will be around Rs 41,500 per month.
This longest bridge route from Mumbai to New Mumbai will solve traffic jam problem, saving of time as well as fuel. We are proud to have such engineering marvel in our country.
