For the foodies, the three day street food festival at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in New Delhi which concluded on Sunday was a big hit with more than 500 mouthwatering delicacies being offered by 27 states.
In the continued interest of the street vendors of India, National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) kept the tradition going on for the 13th time, by organizing National Street Food Festival (NSSF) at the stadium from Dec 29 – 31. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had inaugurated the festival.
This time the association went a step ahead to get two international cuisines, one from Turkey and other from Afghanistan, sharing the fair.
The entire fair was based on multiple themes keeping street vendors in mind. That included environment conservation, health and hygiene, laws and regulations and many more. To enlighten the visitors and the food lovers, the organizers arranged discussions with experts in quick sessions. They termed this event as ‘Chaupal’, where experts from FSSAI, NGOs, NASVI members and many more came together to share their views and experiences, on how to positively develop the street vendors in India.
The organizers managed the event well in terms of cleanliness and other utilities. The focused on ‘zero waste’ by displaying banners and slogans for general public awareness. Ongoing cultural programs enhanced the flavors for the food lovers. Several solo and group performances, including songs, dances, dramas, qawwalis, etc, were held to engage the foodies.
