Congress on Tuesday formed a committee for better future prospects of the India alliance comprising 28 parties ahead of the general election in April-May, TV channels said.
Mukul Wasnik will be the convener of the National Alliance Committee with former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot, former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, former union minister Salman Khurshid and senior leader Mohan Prakash as its other four members. Congress is the leading partner of the alliance.
The committee will hold talks with alliance partners and suggest measures for strengthening the coalition.
The committee was formed as the Indian alliance leaders geared up in New Delhi to hold a crucial meeting in the backdrop of the BJP’s astonishing victory in the Hindi heartland states on December 3.
