Stock market touches record high

A day after the stunning BJP victory in three Hindi heartland states, the Indian stock market rallied on Monday with Sensex and Nifty touching new record highs.
The BSE Sensex closed at new high of 68,865.12 up 1383.93 (2.05 percent) and nifty also scaled new high 20,686.80 up 2.07 percent. This was the first major rally this year with a hope that the country may witness a stable government after the general elections, analysts said.

The Indian stock market is witnessing a strong rally since the Diwali season in October-November.
The hallmark of the today’s rally was that all the sectors participated broadly. There were strong sentiments that the FIIs would continue to invest in the Indian market which looked very stable now.
“It was really a big rally and we are very positive on the stock market,” said Sanjay Mittal of Anand Rathi financial services. Ends
