BJP MLA from Kedarnath Asha Nautiyal has demanded ban on the entry of non-Hindus at Kedarnath and other Hindu shrines in Uttarakhand saying their activities are hurting the religious sentiments.
In various video interviews, Nautiyal said local traders are demanding ban on the entry of non-Hindus in Chardham shrines as they are indulging in certain activities which are hurting the sentiments of the Hindu pilgrims. She also alleged that non-Hindus are selling non-vegetarian food and liquor items to the Chardham shrines which are harming the religious sanctity.
When asked whether she would take up with the issue with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, she said she would surely do that.
Meanwhile, top Congress leaders including former Chief Minister Harish Rawat have slammed Nautiyal on the issue. “BJP leader have the habit of sensationalizing such issues,” Rawat said.
“Failed to spread hatred during holi and ramzan, BJP is now trying to spread hatred in the name of Chardham”, Senior Congress leader Suryakant Dhasmana said. Dhasmana alleged that the BJP is running a national agenda of spreading hatred in the name of festivals and religious pilgrimages across the country by polluting their spiritual and religious importance.
