Karnataka moves on top in National Games

Karnataka on Tuesday surged ahead topping the medal tally in the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand by winning 42 medals with 22 gold.

Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) comprising Army, Air Force and Navy, was relegated to second place winning 38 medals including 19 gold.

Maharashtra continued to be at third position with 61 medals including 15 gold.

After initial dazzling performance, Manipur moved down to fourth place winning 26 medals including 11 gold. Till Sunday, Manipur was on the top of the medal tally.

The hosts Uttarakhand was standing at 19th position despite winning 17 medals including one gold. “Our children especially in weightlifting are new. But we must appreciate that our children are very playing very well despite having least resources,” said Amit Sinha, CEO National Games and Special Sports Secretary Uttarakhand.
