Badrinath shrine to reopen on May 4

The portals of Badrinath shrine in Uttarakhand will reopen on May 4 at 6 AM, it was announced on the occasion of Basant Panchami on Sunday.

The muharat for the reopening of the Badrinath shrine, one of the four Chardhams, was taken at the Raj Mahal in Narendra Nagar in Tehri district where Maharaja Manujendra Shah performed the ceremony with priests reciting vedic mantra and performing other Hindu rituals.

Later, Maharaja Shah made the announcement of the opening of the portals and prayed for the safe pilgrimage in the coming season.

Badrinath shrine is situated in the hill district of Chamoli at a height of 3133 meter. The doors of Badrinath shrine were closed on Nov 17 last. The shrine remains closed during the winter season every year.

Last year, the portals of Badrinath were opened on May 12.
