After an inordinate delay, Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency movie is all set to hit theatres from Friday.

Ranaut said she is celebrating national cinema day on Jan 17, the day when her movie will be released for which the ticket price will be at Rs 99.

Ranaut’s movie was caught in the web of censorship as the Censor Board has refused to give clearance to her directorial debut movie based on the black days of emergency.

“The wait is almost over – advance bookings are now open! Secure your seats to witness India’s darkest chapter and the woman who redefined destiny,” Ranaut said on X.

The latest post was in sharp contrast to her earlier post in September where she had expressed her annoyance over the postponement of the release of the movie due to some objections. “With a heavy heart I announce that my directorial Emergency has been postponed. We are still waiting for the certification from the Censor Board. A new release date will be announced soon. Thanks for your understanding and patience,” Ranaut had said in September.

The movie was caught in the legal wrangling after the Madhya Pradesh High Court asked the Censor Board to look into the matter concerning the objections raised by some Sikh groups against the movie.

After Ranaut’s post, the netizens made all sorts of interesting comments on the controversy surrounding the movie. “Now you understand the real Emergency looks like,” wrote Tarun Gautam.

Some people were critical of the ruling BJP claiming it was “spineless” as it failed to push the movie.

“How many cuts, Maam if you could kindly enlighten….,” said a netizen on X.
