THDCIL on Wednesday added another feather to its cap when the full load i.e. 660MW of Unit-I of its 1320 Mw Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (KSTPP) was successfully achieved at 05.15 AM, the Company’s CMD R K Vishnoi said.
“All the six coal mills have been put in operation. All technical parameters are stable. During the trial operation of Unit-I maximum load of 664 MW has been achieved at mainstream pressure 262.4 kg/cm² and temperature 603 °C,” Vishnoi said adding it was a significant achievement.
Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical) was also present when the milestone was achieved.
Vishnoi congratulated entire Team Khurja of THDCIL for this achievement and added that all ESP fields have been charged. “Ash evacuation is quite satisfactory. Unit will be connected to FGD tomorrow and subsequently commercial operation process should start from 7th Dec,” he said.
With this mega achievement all the thermal systems have been established and proven to go for full load operations. With this KSTPP is ready for other trial operations required for Commercial Operation Declaration (COD). This crucial milestone marks a significant step forward in THDCIL’s effort to expand its presence in power sector and thus making India self-reliant in the field of power generation.
Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), THDC India Limited extended his congratulations to the Khurja Team for this historic achievement and said that the full load run of Unit-I of KSTPP is a testament to THDCIL’s commitment to strengthening its energy portfolio and this addition will significantly boost its total energy generation capacity underscoring our commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable energy solutions
Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical) while addressing Team Khurja said that with this achievement KSTPP will start playing a vital role in providing base load power, thus ensuring a continuous and reliable electricity supply especially during peak demand periods and when renewable energy resources are variable. Gupta congratulated the Commissioning team and the entire KSTPP team led by Kumar Sharad, ED (Project) for making this project successful.
Sipan Kumar Garg, Director (Finance), THDC India Limited congratulated the entire Team Khurja and added that this remarkable achievement strengthens THDCIL’s energy portfolio. By investing in thermal power, the company aimed to leverage the reliable and scalable nature of thermal energy to meet growing energy demands ultimately leading to energy security.
After commissioning the 2400 MW Tehri hydel project, the THDCIL had announced its strategic entry into the Thermal Power sector a few years ago. This sector complements its existing renewable assets, providing a balanced and sustainable energy portfolio capable of delivering a consistent power supply while continuing to innovate in cleaner technologies.
At the same time, THDCIL has been incorporating advance technologies to mitigate environmental impacts and explore cleaner fuel options which will help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Kumar Sharad, ED (Project), B.K. Sahoo, GM (O&M), A.K. Vishwakarma, DGM (HR&A), senior officials of THDC, NTPC Consultancy team, led by Harvinder Singh, AGM (NTPC Consultancy) and officials from various stakeholders such as BHEL, LMB and STEAG were also present on this occasion.
