The Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd (UPCL) has been awarded the “Certificate of Appreciation” by the Union Ministry of Finance, Government of India in the last three financial years i.e. 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24.
The “Certificate of Appreciation” was given by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), under the Union Ministry of Finance, Government of India on the occasion of ‘GST Day’ this year. This award has been given by CBIC to UPCL for its contribution in building a strong nation as a result of timely compliance of monthly and annual GST related statutory obligations in the financial year 2023-24.
“This award is a matter of pride for the UPCL as well as Uttarakhand,” said UPCL Managing Director (MD) Anil Kumar.
Recently, the unprecedented progress made by UPCL in the financial sector in the last year was also appreciated in the meeting of the Board of Directors. The Board lauded the efforts of UPCL for the improvement in billing efficiency and collection efficiency and to reduce AT&C losses and other important steps taken by it like reducing the ACS-ARR gap. In the financial sector, UPCL adopted an innovative power purchase strategy and in the financial year 2023-24, cheap electricity was obtained from the short term market at a record 22 percent lower rate as compared to the financial year 2022-23, due to which the overall power purchase rate also declined by about 03 percent.
The UPCL MD informed that the above achievements have been possible due to the guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the instructions and efforts of Chairperson and Chief Secretary Radha Raturi and Secretary (Energy) R Meenakshi Sunderam .
Under the decisive leadership and guidance of the Chief Minister, Yadav said the work of UPCL in the past few years and the unprecedented progress made in various fields have been appreciated from time to time by the Government of India and the State Government.
