Bharat Net scheme going strong in Uttarakhand thanks to UPCL

Bharat Net project is playing a key role in achieving the Prime Minister’s vision of providing digital connectivity in all rural areas in India.

By providing “high speed internet” service in every Gram Panchayat through Bharat Net, the people in rural areas are now accessing online services mainly due to better electricity connectivity.

As a result of the instructions and efforts of UPCL Managing Director Anil Yadav, the discom has achieved success by providing 100 percent electricity connectivity to the Panchayat houses / school buildings identified under Bharat Net project in the state of Uttarakhand.

The Managing Director congratulated all the regional officers / employees for this success and directed to make every possible effort to maintain the supply and quality of electricity throughout the state in future as well.

Under this scheme, UPCL has completed the electrification of 697 identified Panchayat houses in 10 districts on time. The maximum sites are in Bageshwar district where electrification of all 126 sites has been done.

Apart from this, UPCL has also joined the leading states of the country by completing the electrification of 669 identified grid based PVTG houses under PM Janman Yojana in Uttarakhand state. Besides, under Border Out Post Scheme, work is in progress to provide grid connectivity to 43 ITBP posts in Pithoragarh, Uttarkashi and Chamoli districts and to 1154 houses in 11 identified villages in Pithoragarh and Uttarkashi districts under Vibrant Village Programme.
