Efforts to rescue two foreigners trekkers, who were stranded near Chaukhamba peak-III in Uttarakhand continued on Saturday.
Michele Theresa (US) and Favgane Manners (UK) were stranded at a height of 6015 meter on Thursday. An SDRF statement said inclement weather conditions hampered efforts by the army helicopters to rescue the two trekkers on Friday.
After getting information from the Chamoli district administration, a specialized high altitude rescue team of SDRF and NDRF launched rescue operation on Saturday and established a base camp also. “The rescue teams are carrying medicines and other essentials items. We are hopeful to rescue the two trekkers as soon as possible,” a top SDRF official said.
