Centre sanctions special assistance of Rs 65 cr for Uttarakhand police

The centre has sanctioned a special assistance of Rs 65.38 crore for the Uttarakhand Police which will be utilized in the construction of new police stations and residential buildings.

“The Uttarakhand police have received an important gift from the central government under the Special Assistance Scheme for State Capital Investment (SASCI) 2024-25. As a result of the tireless efforts of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the proposal submitted by the state government and police headquarters, the central government has approved a total amount of Rs 65.38 crore on 20 September 2024,” DGP Abhinav Kumar said in a statement.

He said Chief Minister was constantly making efforts to equip the functionality and efficiency of the state police technically and financially.

Under the special assistance, Rs 28.09 crore has been given for the construction of 156 residential buildings and Rs 37.29 crore for construction of 6 new police stations and 14 police chowkis.

The DGP said as a result of the active role and coordination of the Uttarakhand government and police headquarters, these important construction projects have been approved, which will definitely strengthen the law and order of the state and establish “new dimensions of success”, The DGP said.

“The police stations and chowkis to be constructed under these projects will provide a better working environment to the police personnel, which will significantly increase their efficiency and morale. It will also have a positive impact on the quality of police services in public interest,” Kumar said.

Lauding the efforts of the Chief Minister in this regard, the DGP said the police department expresses its gratitude to the central government for this important investment in infrastructure, giving priority to the public safety of the state. With this cooperation, another big step has been taken towards making Uttarakhand Police strong and effective, the DGP noted.
