Arjun Babuta misses medal at Paris

Just like Milkha Singh and P T Usha, Arjun Babuta (25) on Monday narrowly missed an opportunity to either win a silver or bronze at Paris Olympics. He stood fourth in the men’s 100m air rifle at Paris Olympics.

The bad luck followed Babuta in the last rounds when he failed to score the required points to stay in the contention for the hunt of bronze or silver. He scored 208.4 points.  At one point of time, he was on second position after China’s L H Sheng, who won gold by scoring 252.2 points.

V Lindgren (Sweden) came from behind took the second position by scoring 251.4. M Maricic (Croatia) stood third.

Milkha Singh had failed to win 400m race at the 1960 Rome Olympics by 0.1 seconds at the finish line to come fourth.  Similarly, Usha also narrowly missed the medal at 1984 Los Angeles Olympics by just 1/100th of a second to finish at fourth place.

Babuta, who was born in Jalalabad (Fazlka) in Punjab, has done mass communication from the Lovely University in Chandigarh.
