Two more accidents kill five people in UK hills

A day after 14 people were killed in a Rudraprayag accident, five more persons were killed in two separate mishaps in the hills of Pauri district in Uttarakhand on Sunday.

In first accident at Khirsu in Pauri district, four people were killed and three injured when a Swift Desire car fell 200 meter down from a hilly road. A team of SDRF carried out the rescue operation and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital.

In a separate accident at Satpuli in the district, one person was killed and five others were injured when a vehicle carrying a marriage party rolled down 150 feet down from a road. All the injured were admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Fourteen people were killed and 12 injured when an overloaded vehicle fell into Alaknanda river at Rudraprayag district on Saturday.

  1. Over crowding on hills, unruly rash driving, overspeeding and driving after drinking are main causes for increasing accidents on the hills.
