The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said it was examining the data and censors to verify whether 52.9 degree C temperature in Mungeshpur in Delhi was correct.

“The maximum temperature over Delhi NCR varied from 45.2 degree C to 49.1 deg C in different parts of the city. Mungeshpur reported 52.9 deg C as an outlier compared to other stations. It could be due to error in the sensor or the local factor. IMD is examining the data and censors,” IMD said in a statement.

A section of media has prominently displayed the  Mungeshpur temperature claiming people were feeling excessive heat in the locality.

IMD also said the maximum temperature in Delhi has fallen on Wednesday due to rains in the afternoon. It reiterated that the heat wave conditions will reduce in the next few days.
