With the heavy rush of the Chardham pilgrims continuing unabated, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday said his government would prepare a master plan for Gangotri and Yamunotri areas for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage in future.
Early this week, chaotic scenes were witnessed at number of places in the Chardham areas after the pilgrims footfall surged breaking all previous records. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi said the pilgrims have almost doubled this year as compared to last year.
Under the master plan, the pilgrims would get better facilities like car-parking and wide network of roads, Dhami said. “Chardham yatra is very important for us. We give top priority to this yatra. This is a lifeline for local people in Gangotri and Yamunotri areas as well as for Uttarakhand,” Dhami said after reviewing the arrangements for the Chardham yatra in Barkot and other areas of Yamunotri Dham.
Dhami also talked to a number of pilgrims on roads and in buses to take first hand information of the yatra arrangements.
While reviewing the Chardham yatra arrangements, Dhami again appealed to the pilgrims adhere to the registration code strictly and asked the government officials to provide food and other facilities to pilgrims at various places during the yatra.
