Portals of Kedarnath, Yamunotri closed

The portals of Kedarnath and Yamunotri shrines nestling in the Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand were closed on Wednesday with priests offering prayers and reciting vedic hymns.

Gangotri shrine was closed on Tuesday in Uttarakashi district.

With the closure of the three shrines, the Chardham yatra would also come to an end on Nov 18.

Badrinath shrine in Chamoli district will be closed on Nov 18 at around 3.33 PM, top officials of the Kedarnath-Badrinath temple committee said.

This season (April-November), nearly 54 lakh pilgrims have so far visited the high altitude chardham shrines nestling in the Garhwal Himalayas.  Ends
