St Joseph’s Academy (SJA), Dehradun, on Wednesday celebrated its Senior School investiture ceremony with grandeur and solemnity.
The ceremony marked the formal induction of the newly elected student council members into their respective positions of leadership. The occasion was graced by Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, who was chief guest.
The other dignitaries included Mrs Radhika Jha, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development Works, Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary to the Chief Minister Power and Planning; Dr Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Secretary AYUSH and AYUSH Education, Government of Uttarakhand. It was also heartening to have Principal Brother Jeyaseelan, Rev. Bro J.C. Carroll, Coordinators, parents of the newly appointed Council Members, teachers, and students be a part of this celebration. Their presence added significance to the event and underscored the importance of student leadership in the school’s ethos.
It was a momentous occasion, symbolising the school’s commitment to fostering leadership, responsibility, and excellence among its students. The ceremony took place in the school auditorium.
The stage was adorned with the prestigious school and house flags; and emblems creating an atmosphere of dignity and reverence. The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome address acknowledging the significance of the occasion and the exemplary leadership qualities exhibited by the student council members. Next, the section toppers from the senior school were felicitated for their remarkable performance.
The highlight of the event was the Investiture Ceremony 2024. Each incoming office-bearer was adorned with the respective insignia of their position, signifying their official appointment. This was done by pinning of the badges by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. The newly appointed student council members solemnly pledged the oath of office led by the Principal, Rev. Bro. Jeyaseelan to uphold the values of integrity, diligence, and service to the school and its community.
The ceremony witnessed captivating cultural performances. These included musical renditions and dance presentations, showcasing the artistic talents of the students, and adding vibrancy to the proceedings. The morning’s celebrations were also interspersed with an inspirational message delivered by Chief Guest Raturi. She emphasised the importance of empathy, belief in the self and the freedom for each child to blossom with his or her choice of career. She congratulated the entire council body for achieving this milestone in their lives.
The Investiture Ceremony at SJA was a resounding success, exemplifying the school’s ethos of academic excellence, leadership development, and character formation.
