5.8 magnitude earthquake hits Afghanistan

An earthquake of 5.7-5.8 magnitude on Saturday struck Afghanistan with its shocks being felt in Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir.

The epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred around 1217 hours, was in Ashkasham area near Tajikistan border, the USGS said. The earthquake was also felt in Islamabad and other cities of Pakistan and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, no loss of life or property was reported from anywhere so far.

According to National Centre for Seismology (NCS), a couple of minor earthquakes were also felt in Doda in Jammu and Kashmir and Tibet in the Himalayan region.
