3 labourers killed in forest fire in Almora (updating with new pic)

Three laborers working in a Leesa factory died and one injured when they were extinguishing a forest fire in Almora district of Uttarakhand on Friday, forest officials said.

Altogether 64 new incidents of forest fire were reported in the state in the last 24 hours.

According to the daily forest fire bulletin issued by the state forest department, the fire accident occurred in the Gananath range under Almora forest division where the three labourers were killed.

An Almora forest official said that the forest fire on Thursday had reached the Leesa factory and the accident occurred when the labourers were extinguishing it. The injured laborer is being treated at the base hospital of Almora.

All the victims were from Nepal.

Meanwhile, 64 new incidents of forest fire were reported in different parts of the state in the last 24 hours in which 74.67 hectares of forest was affected.

Since November 1 last year, there have been 868 incidents of forest fire in Uttarakhand in which more than 1000 hectares of forest has been damaged in the fire.
