Over 300 people were taken ill in Dehradun early Monday after they ate contaminated food made of kuttu atta, a top government official said.

Most of the patients developed the symptoms of food poisoning like vomiting. After getting medical care, nearly 200 people were discharged. “Now only 100 patients are left in Corona and Doon hospitals,” the official said.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the hospitals to inquire the health of the patients. He asked the Dehradun district administration to take stern action against the culprits.

After investigations, nearly 22 shops from where the atta was purchased have been sealed. The shop of the main distributor in Dehradun has also been sealed. FIRs have also been filed against different people who either sold or distributed the contaminated kuttu atta.

The SSP said the police investigations have found that the atta came from Saharanpur area in Uttar Pradesh where the district administration has been asked to take action against the main supplier. A police team is also being sent to Saharanpur to take further action against the supplier.
